Thua Thien Hue Province collects ideas on heritage conservation plan
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center expects to receive ideas on a plan to preserve, repair and recover the complex of facilities and infrastructures in Hue Imperial Citadel. The plan, with a vision until 2050, aims to resurrect heritage sites, raise public awareness about cultural perseveration, and explore heritage values to benefit society. The center will accept plans until October 31.
The Politburo aims to make Thua Thien Hue Province, with the Hue Imperial Citadel, a city of festivals, tourism, education and culture in Asia upon the city’s cultural wealth.

The Danang Tourism Department has promoted tourism combined with MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), golf, eco-tourism, cultural heritage exploration, cuisine, nightlife entertainment services, and prominent festivals at the Danang Tourism Introduction Program, which was held on October 6 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In September, the estimated number of visitors to the beach city of Danang reached nearly six million, a 2.1-fold year-on-year increase.
Northwest Cultural and Tourism Week in Laos this month
Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City and northern mountain provinces, including Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, and Ha Giang, will participate in the first Northwest Cultural and Tourism Week in Luang Prabang Province, Laos, from October 25-27.
The event aims to promote culture and tourism and celebrate the 61st anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations (1962-2023).
ASEAN ministers to announce joint statement on disaster management
Environment and agriculture ministers of ASEAN member states are expected to announce their joint statement on early actions in disaster management during the 11th ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM).
The six-day event will kick off tomorrow (October 8) in Quang Ninh Province’s Ha Long City. It is an opportunity for Vietnam to prove its chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management and for delegates to discuss ways to improve the resilience and durability of ASEAN member states against natural disasters.
Khanh Hoa draws 15 new projects worth $4.1 billion

The central coastal province of Khanh Hoa attracted 15 new private investment projects with a total registered capital of more than VND100 trillion (US$4.1 billion) in January-September. These include the Cam Ranh coastal residential area, which has an investment of VND85.3 trillion ($3.5 billion), and the Vinpearl Phu Quy residential area, which has an investment of VND7.4 trillion ($303.4 million).
The province also granted 14 other projects to increase registered capital by VND29 trillion ($1.2 billion).
Vietnam wins 24 medals at Asiad 19
As of October 6, Vietnam ranked 21st on the medal tally with 24 medals, including three golds, four silvers, and 17 bronzes at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games (Asiad 19).
The medals include the third gold one in the final of female Karatedo kata on October 6. In another development, the Vietnamese female volleyball team will fight for the bronze medal against Thailand.
Vietnam forms a chip design business community
Vietnam has formed a chip design business community with over 30 companies and more than 5,000 design engineers, considered one of the largest communities in the region, according to Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Vietnamese companies participating in this field currently include Viettel and FPT Semiconductor, with about 200 employees. Approximately 50 foreign firms from Japan, the US, China, and South Korea have invested in Vietnam, with an estimated workforce of over 5,000 engineers who can undertake design tasks in various areas. The allocation of human resources is concentrated mainly in Ho Chi Minh City (85%), followed by Hanoi (8%) and Danang (7%).
