Vietnam offers free vaccination at central hospitals

This is the first time in Vietnam the expanded immunization model (free of charge) has been implemented at central-level hospitals.

The Center for Health Examination and Vaccination under Vietnam National Children's Hospital started to deploy free vaccination for all patients, including children in hospital treatment, from March 14, Kinh Te & Do Thi newspaper reported.

Especially, the center has staff for consulting and carrying out intensive examination for high-risk groups of children before the injection.

The vaccination time is in all days of the week from 7:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. (including holidays). People in need can call the hotline for advice (office hours): 0852249988; 0832569988; 02462747717.

The list of vaccines in the expanded vaccination program includes:
1. Tetanus (for pregnant women and children)
2. Tuberculosis (BCG)
3. Hepatitis B
4. Pentavalent vaccine (SII)
5. Diphtheria vaccine, pertussis, tetanus
6. Polio paralysis
7. Measles (MVAC)
8. Measles - Rubella (MRVAC)
9. Japanese encephalitis (Jevax)

The expanded vaccination program is currently implemented at the commune, ward and district levels. However, high-risk children (such as those of premature birth or having congenital heart disease) will be referred to facilities of higher levels.

Earlier, ten infectious diseases were approved for free vaccination in Vietnam under an expanded national vaccination program that started on January 1, 2018.

The diseases are Hepatitis B, tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, paralysis, Haemophilus influenza type b, measles, Japanese encephalitis B, and rubella.

All children under five years will be shot with the 10 vaccines free of charge.
