Vietnam police uncover Chinese-run facility, seizing 13 tons of drug precursors

More Chinese people have involved in big drug cases in Vietnam over the past years.

Police have detected a drug manufacturing facility in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Kon Tum run by a group of Chinese people, arresting 7.

The police seized 13 tons of chemicals and drug precursors and 20 tons of equipment and devices used for illicit production of drug in a raid to the facility owned by Dong An Vien Import and Export Co., Ltd in Dak Ha District on August 6.

In addition, police also impounded hundreds of liters of solution which was later identified as synthetic drugs, local media quoted Colonel Vu Van Hau, deputy head of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS)’s Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes, at a meeting in Hanoi on September 10.

To uncover this drug case, MPS had cooperated with Chinese police, Vietnamese Border Guard, and police in Vietnamese provinces of Kon Tum, Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam, Hau said at a press briefing.

The facility which is owned by Vietnamese man named Tran Ngoc An has been leased by Chinese people over the past years.

In another move, police in central province of Binh Dinh found two warehouses containing hundreds tanks of chemicals which are used to produce drug. 

Local police have arrested six Chinese people who looked after the facilities which are rented to keep construction material.  

Recently, more Chinese nationals have involved in drug cases in Vietnam. The majority of them hired a residential area or large site to produce and store drug for both domestic use and shipment to China or other countries.
