Vietnam promotes tourism between Vietnam - Indonesia

On December 3, to promote the exchange of visitors between the two countries Vietnam and Indonesia, a conference on tourism between Vietnam and Indonesia was held by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

The event drew participations of tour companies, hotels, over 10 enterprises, Indonesia's media which are exploring destinations in Vietnam.

Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration ofTourism Ha Van Sieu said the traditional friendly relation, strategic partnership Vietnam - Indonesia have been established and continually strengthened.

With nearly 250 million people, the proportion of the population belonging to the middle class and their needs to travel abroad are increasing.

Indonesia has become a potential market with an important source of tourist arrivals to Vietnam .

In 2013, roughly 8 million Indonesians traveling overseas including 88.6% of those travelled to Asia - Pacific, while the number of
Indonesian visitors to Vietnam was just over 70 thousand travellers.

Cooperation between Vietnam ‘s tourism enterprises and Indonesia’s tourism enterprises is not really effective and continuous due to lacks of promoting tourist attractions, tourism products, and disadvantaged transportation.

Strategy on Viet Nam's tourism development until 2020 has identified the ASEAN’s  member countries. Indonesia is considered as one of the important market.

Vietnam has tourism products, attractive destinations, growing up-graded technical infrastructure to ensure tourists’needs.

However, air connectivity between the two countries are strengthening and consolidating with more daily direct flight routes.

In the coming time, the two nations should pay more attention to the introducing market, promoting tourism; supporting each other in participating into tourism events, and the tourism fairs to showcase products; providing information about the country and people with potential tourists and to businesses and investors.

Director General of the VNAT’s International Cooperation Department Dinh Ngoc Duc emphasized that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism would promote a number of activities such as inviting international Famtrip group, and Indonesia’s top media agencies to Vietnam to popularise its image upon coming back home, organising a tourism and cooperation conference to discuss feasible joint projects, encouraging Vietnam's enterprises to promote tourism in Indonesia and to open more Indonesian cuisine restaurants.
