Vietnam qualifies for quarterfinals at Asian Cup 2019 after sensational win

In the 120-minute match, Vietnam held advantages with more possessions, shootings, corners, and less fouls.

Vietnam have edged Jordan 4-2 in penalty shootout to enter the semifinals of the 2019 Asian Cup, becoming the first team qualified in the knockout stage.

The Golden Star warriors, also known as the Golden Dragons, grab victory after the high octane match ending at one goal apiece even after extra time.

Vietnamese captain Que Ngoc Hai took the first penalty and calmly sank the ball into the net, sending Jordanian goalkeeper Shafi the wrong way. 

Defender Do Hung Dung was up next and rolled the ball into the bottom left corner of the net, and Shafi couldn’t save it. 

Midfielder Luong Xuan Truong made a penalty into the left corner as he sent Shafi the wrong way. 

Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam successfully saved a score, giving the Golden Star warriors a widen path into the next stage. 

Defender Bui Tien Dung, who took the last turn, scored with the ball went into the bottom left corner, enabling Vietnam to go through the quarterfinals. 

In the 120-minutes match, Vietnam held advantages with more possessions, shootings, corners, and less fouls.  

Jordan beat champions Australia 1-0 and won 2-0 over strong Syria in the group stage.
