Vietnam releases Esports White Book 2022-2023

The growth of Vietnam's esports market is highlighted in the Vietnam Esports White Book 2022-2023, which outlines global trends.

The Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA)  on December 30 announced the release of the Vietnam Esports White Book 2022-2023

Produced jointly by VIRESA and OTA Network, the publication provides essential, in-depth information on esports, enabling individuals, organizations and businesses to operate effectively while promoting a professional esports environment in Vietnam.

According to VIRESA President Do Viet Hung, this year's White Book focuses on three key areas: regional and global esports, an overview of Vietnam's esports landscape, and future development trends. It serves as a guide for investors and businesses and provides valuable insights for the development of Vietnam's esports industry and related businesses.

After Covid-19, the global esports market experienced remarkable growth, with 532 million viewers in 2022, including 271 million occasional viewers and 261 million frequent viewers. By 2025, the number of frequent viewers is expected to reach 318 million, and global e-sports revenues are projected to exceed $1.86 billion.

In Vietnam, the e-sports industry generated revenues of $5.78 million in 2023, an increase of 11.15% from the previous year. The market is forecast to grow to $8.73 million by 2027.

Beyond financial growth, Vietnam's eSports status has been elevated by organizing and chairing eSports events at two consecutive SEA Games (SEA Games 31 in May 2022 and SEA Games 32 in May 2023).

Vietnamese eSports athletes have achieved notable successes, including first place overall at the SEA Games 31, fourth place at the SEA Games 32, and victories in PUBG Mobile at the Global Esports Games 2022, the AIC 2022 Arena of Valor International Tournament, and the FIFAe Continental Cup 2022.

The Vietnam Esports White Book 2022-2023 is available in both Vietnamese and English and can be downloaded at https://sachtrang.viresa.org.vn
