Vietnam resolutely opposes China’s illegal lighthouse construction

On October 13, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh has replied to reporters’ questions about China’s construction of two lighthouses in the Chau Vien (Cuarteron) and Gac Ma (Johnson) reefs in Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh stated: "Vietnam resolutely rejects and vehemently protests China's action. Once again, we affirm that Vietnam has sufficient legal and historical evidence validating indisputable sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos. Other countries carry out activities there without permission and agreement from Vietnam is illegal and null and void."

China’s construction of two lighthouses in the Chau Vien (Cuarteron) and Gac Ma (Johnson) reefs in Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago seriously violates Vietnam's sovereignty, that is contrary to common perception of senior leaders of the two countries, as the situation more tense and complicated.

Vietnam resolutely rejects and strongly protest this action by the Chinese side "
