Over 100 Vietnamese and Swedish education managers and experts shared experience on public policy-management in university education on November 12 in Hanoi.
The international seminar was co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, the Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi and Sweden's Uppsala University.
The workshop focused on assessing public policies and their impacts on education at all levels, from kindergarten, primary, secondary, high school and university.
The workshop was also a forum for foreign education experts to share experiences on training administrative and public management-related human resources with Vietnamese experts.
The Ministry of Education and Training thanked and valued the support from Sweden and cooperation in training at university and post-graduate education, said Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga.
Among the cooperation, Uppsala University has assisted effectively Vietnam's universities and management agencies in establishing and implementing coordination programmes since 1970.
The deputy minister hoped that the seminar would strengthen the cooperation in education and training between the two countries in many fields, and support Vietnam's ongoing process of comprehensive education renovation.
The seminar not only contributed to improving co-operation but also enhanced mutual understanding, opening up new opportunities for cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Vietnam has made a series of achievements in social welfare, including hunger and poverty eradication and measures that help poor people access public services, such as healthcare, education, vocational training, legal advice, housing, clean water, preferential credit and infrastructure development in poor areas.
Vietnam has also developed a social and health insurance system.
Swedish experts said training professional human resources on public management was one of the break-through steps that had helped Vietnam's fast development.
