Vietnam takes a silver award at APICTA 08

The Hanoi Times - Vietnam’s “Using VSAT IP Solution to Bring Broadband Internet to the Countryside” solution won a silver medal at the Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards 2008.

The Hanoi Times - Vietnam’s “Using VSAT IP Solution to Bring Broadband Internet to the Countryside” solution won a silver medal at the Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards 2008.

APICTA is the annual awards initiated by the Multimedia Development Corporation of Malaysia to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide in the Asia-Pacific.
APICTA 2008 was held for products and solutions in 16 areas: education and training, healthcare, industry, telecommunications, tourism, finance, information security, e-government, e-citizen, general solutions, research and development solutions, multimedia and entertainment, application tools and infrastructure, starting business, ICT projects of university students, and ICT projects of high-school students.
This year’s event was organized in Jakarta, Indonesia from November 11-15, with the participation of 11 countries and territories (Vietnam, Singapore, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Macau, Malaysia, Australia and Brunei).
Among 144 products and solutions brought to the contest, Vietnam had o­nly two and o­ne of them “Using VSAT IP Technology to Bring Broadband Internet to the Countryside” solution, developed by the Department of Science and Technology of southern Dong Nai province, won the silver award.
The other product “Device Supporting Information Security Quality Management” ranked third out of nine products in the category of information security.
