Vietnam to host ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a request to the Prime Minister to be approved its hosting of the 38th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2019), an important activity with the largest scale in the framework of ASEAN tourism cooperation.

The ATF 2019, which could take place in Hanoi, HCM City or Da Nang city, is expected to attract tourism officials and representatives from the ten ASEAN member states as well as dialogue partners from China, India Japan, the Republic of Korea and Russia.
As scheduled, the 38th ASEAN Tourism Forum will include an ASEAN tourism minister conference, meeting between ASEAN tourism ministers with partners, including China, Japan, Korea, Russia, India, meetings of national tourism agency officials and an ASEAN Travel Expo (Travex), among others.

Being the host of the forum will create good opportunities for Vietnam to popularise the country’s people and promote national tourism, contributing to confirming the role and raising Vietnam's position in the region and the world.
First launched in 1981 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, ATF is the biggest annual and alternated event in the framework of ASEAN tourism cooperation with a view to developing ASEAN into a regional tourism destination, contributing to bolstering exchanges and friendship cooperation as well as consolidating regional peace and prosperity.
The 35th ASEAN Travel Forum (ATF 2016), themed “One Community for Sustainability”, took place in the Philippines from January 18-22.
About 1,600 international delegates including ministerial officials, exhibitors, media and other travel industry professionals from 50 countries participated in the event.
