Vietnam to host World Travel Awards 2022 gala ceremony

The biggest annual event of the tourism industry is held in Vietnam to promote the resumption of the country tourism industry.

The gala ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2022 (WTA) in Asia and Oceania will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 7, according to World Travel Awards (WTA) Organizing Committee on August 30.

Under the theme “Southern Journey”, the World Travel Awards will be held for the second time in Vietnam following the first time in Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province in 2019.

Graham Cooke, Founder and President of World Travel Award said that Ho Chi Minh City will be chosen as the venue for the gala ceremony of World Travel Awards 2022 instead of Dubai (UAE) as previously planned. “We want to accelerate the reopening of the tourism industry in Vietnam and support the ITE HCMC 2022 fair,” he stated.

As for the WTA this year, Vietnam was nominated in seven categories such as Asia’s Leading Destination 2022, Asia’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination 2022, Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination 2022, Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2022, Asia’s Leading Nature Destination 2022, Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2022 and Asia’s Leading Beach Destination 2022.

Some Vietnamese enterprises and units in the tourism sector are also nominated for 2022 award.

The gala ceremony is expected to attract hundreds of international businesses, entrepreneurs and journalists in the tourism sector.

WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Today, the WTA brand is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. The award celebrates its 29th anniversary year in 2022.
