Vietnam to join global tourism fair in Spain

This event is a chance for Vietnam to introduce more destinations, products and travel services to Spanish tourists.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) will take part in the 2019 International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) from January 23 to 27 in Madrid, Spain, in a bid to promote Vietnam's tourism in the West European market.

Accordingly, Vietnam’s booths will feature its destinations, products and travel services to Spanish tourists. In addition, VNAT will also introduce a traditional culture through special art performances.
FITUR, first held in 1980, attracted organizations and businesses worldwide to introduce their tourism destinations, products and services. The fair is also an occasion for businesses to exchange business opportunities and discuss new tourism trends in the world. In 2017, FITUR saw the participation of nearly 10,000 businesses from 165 countries, territories and more than 100,000 visitors.
Accordingly, tourists from five Western European countries including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy will enjoy visa exemptions for the next three years until June 30, 2021, from July 1, 2018, when travelling to Vietnam.
The continued visa exemption is expected to push up the development of the Vietnamese tourism sector.
Vietnam also saw growth in the number of visitors from five Western European countries, citizens of which are exempted from visas for 15 days. In which, the UK up 7.9%, Germany up 9.4%, France up 12%, Italy up 16.6%, according to the General Statistic Office.
The number of tourists from these countries to Vietnam soared in recent years, with 720,000 in 2015, 855,000 in 2016, and 1.5 million in 2017.
