Many provincial authorities also have recommended allowing the entry of foreign experts and managers to run on-going projects.

At a government meeting on June 9, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that Vietnam has normalized socioeconomic activities after 54 days without new Covid-19 infection reported in the community.

The number of foreign experts, skilled laborers, investors and managers working in Vietnam is huge and many of them have been unable to return to Vietnam as the country has suspended international flights since late March, he said.

Many provincial authorities have asked for permission to allow the entry of foreign experts and businesspeople to run on-going projects.

The prime minister also said that the number of overseas Vietnamese who want to return to the country is on the rise so isolation facilities for them must be ready. So far, the country has repatriated nearly 6,000 citizens from different parts of the world.

PM Phuc asked to adopt a new communication approach on Vietnam’s disease prevention and control so as for the people not to lose vigilance in the context of normalizing socio-economic activities.

“The dual objective is to restoring socio-economic development and preventing the spread of Covid-19,” the prime minister emphasized.

As of June 9, the country has confirmed 332 cases and zero deaths. The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control’s treatment subcommittee reported that 316 out of the total patients have been discharged from hospital so far.
