Vietnam to welcome 10 mln foreign visitors in 2016

Vietnam to welcome over 10 million international arrivals in 2016, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

In 2016, more than 5.4 million tourists are likely to visit Kien Giang, increasing 24 percent year-on-year and exceeding the yearly quota by 9.5 percent. Of the figure, international arrivals will grow 31.4 percent annually, 14 percent higher than initial plan.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City is poised to welcome over 5.2 million foreign visitors in 2016, up 10 percent against 2015, according the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
The city is estimated to receive 21.8 million domestic visitors this year. Meanwhile, its total tourism revenues are expected to rise 9 percent to 103 trillion Vietnamese dong (4.6 billion U.S. dollars).

Ho Chi Minh City plans to receive 5.5 million international arrivals and 24 million domestic visitors in 2017, and make total tourism revenues of 112 trillion Vietnamese dong (5 billion U.S. dollars), said the municipal Tourism Department.
The city is home to nearly 2,200 hotels and mini-hotels, and 1,314 travel agencies, including 647 foreign ones and 9 representative offices of foreign travel firms.
In total, the country is set to serve more than 62 million domestic travelers this year. Together with international arrivals, total revenue from tourism sector is estimated at 400 trillion Vietnamese dong (18 billion U.S. dollars) in 2016.
On Jan. 1, 2017, Vietnam will begin issuing e-visa for foreign tourists. As such, the tourism sector has set goals of receiving 11.5 million foreign visitors and revenue of 460 trillion Vietnamese dong (20.24 billion U.S. dollars) in 2017.
