Vietnam tourism targets Australians

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee in collaboration with Vietnam Airlines have embarked upon a marketing campaign aimed at increasing the number of inbound and outbound travellers between Ho Chi Minh City and Australia.

In connection with the campaign, the HCM City People’s Committee recently staged two seminars in Melbourne and Sydney touting the lure of Vietnam as a high calibre, low cost, safe and friendly holiday destination.
Vietnam Ambassador to Australia Luong Thanh Nghi along with head of the delegation from HCM City Nguyen Thi Hong delivered keynote speeches at the seminars touting the past 40 years of friendly relations and called upon businesses in the tourism sector to work hand in hand with Vietnam to build a better future for all.
A Vietnam Airlines representative in turn took the occasion to talk about the development of aviation services between Vietnam and Australia saying that at present the airline has two direct air routes from HCM City to Melbourne and Sydney with plans in the offing to increase the number and frequency of flights.
Vietnam now ranks the 11th most popular travel destination for Australian tourists with nearly 240,000 arrivals in the twelve months leading up to June 2014, the representative said.
Key agents from Vietnam’s tourism industry participating in the event included the HCM City’s People’s Committee, Vietnam Peace Tour, SaigonTourist Travel and Blue Sky Travel.
