The results were announced at a closing ceremony of the "Smart Factory Development Cooperation" project in the first phase of 2023, launched by Samsung Vietnam in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and local authorities.

Twelve enterprises participated in the project from June 7 to August 23, 2023, including five in Bac Ninh Province, one in Vinh Phuc Province, two in Hanoi, three in Hung Yen Province, and one in Ha Nam Province, all of which received expertise from Vietnamese and Samsung consultants from South Korea.

"We used to manage data completely manually. This project has helped us digitize and manage data on software and systems, especially to eliminate abnormal errors that caused significant losses to the company during production. This is crucial for the development of our company," said Nguyen Minh Ngoc, General Director of Thang Long Packaging Production and Import-Export JSC:

The company's management has decided that the project will be maintained and expanded throughout the company, and that issues for improvement will be resolutely addressed as soon as possible, he added.

Kweon Hyeogchel, a consulting expert from Samsung Korea, also saw the determined spirit of business leaders like Ngoc during the project implementation, further enhancing their competitive capabilities in the current highly competitive and challenging economic environment.

"This can be considered the most successful aspect of the project, as these employees are the core that will help the businesses to further expand software applications in the future," he emphasized.

Thang Long Packaging Production and Import-Export JSC and two other companies, Tien Thanh JSC and Viet Nhat Electronics Co., Ltd. made significant improvements in optimizing their systems through activities such as building a real-time data collection/sharing environment for production output and quality inspection, managing machine status and key equipment parameters, and implementing barcode applications for real-time import/export and inventory.

"The project enterprises should quickly make plans to further maximize the effectiveness of the program and contribute to improving the competitiveness of local businesses and the development of industrial and supporting industries nationwide," said Deputy Director General of MoIT's Industry Agency Pham Tuan Anh at the closing ceremony,

"I am delighted to see the remarkable transformation of the companies after participating in the project. The improvements are not only due to the guidance of experts, but also to the strong investment commitment and active contribution of the company's staff and employees," said Choi Joo Ho, CEO of Samsung Vietnam.

He hoped that these companies will continue to maintain and improve their progress in the future to achieve even greater success.

He urged the Vietnamese government to ease the burden on these enterprises by implementing cost-supporting policies or tax reductions.

The project to support the development of smart factories in localities is an activity under the "Smart Factory Development Cooperation" project, for which Samsung and the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a memorandum of understanding in February 2022.

The project aimed to support the training of 100 Vietnamese experts and 50 businesses in the application of the  smart factory model within two years (2022-2023).

The second phase of the project will continue to provide consulting to another 12 enterprises in the southern region from September 2023.
