Vietnamese can visit Hue Imperial Citadel free of charge during Tet
Vietnamese visitors, including overseas Vietnamese, will be able to visit the Hue Imperial Citadel in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue from February 8-10 (the first to third day of the Lunar New Year) for free.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre will offer a number of festivities within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, such as a lion dance and changing of the guards at Ngo Mon (Noon Gate); demonstrating calligraphy, and royal and folk games at the court yard of Thai Hoa (Supreme Harmony) Palace; and performing royal court music at the court yards of The Mieu (Ancestral Temple) and Thai Hoa Palace.
On February 1 (the 23th day of the 12th lunar month), the centre re-enacted the Cay Neu (Neu pole) erecting ceremony at the Imperial Citadel to mark the beginning of the Lunar New Year festival.
The centre said it is also gearing up personnel to provide optimal services for tourists during the biggest traditional festival in Vietnam. More action will also be taken to promote quality tourism services and attract more visitors to the site.
Thua Thien-Hue province aims to welcome 3.1-3.3 million tourists, including 1.3 million foreigners, in 2016.
