Attending at the 22nd Southern African International Trade Exhibition (SAITEX), which took place in Johannesburg city from June 21-23, Vietnamese goods attracted the interest of South African partners.
SAITEX is the largest annual multi-sector fair in Africa. This year, it gathered more than 1,000 companies from 39 countries, drawing more than 15,000 visitors.
With the close collaboration of the Embassy of Vietnam in South Africa and Vietnam Trade Office in South Africa, the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (HASME) had 3 booths at the fair to showcase products from over 20 enterprises in Hanoi and other localities, such as agro-products, garments and textiles, construction materials, computers and software, appliances and handicrafts.
Vietnamese booths attracted various visitors, including around 200 importers from South Africa and countries in the region.
Vice Chairman of HASME, Vietnam's leader of business delegation Mac Quoc Anh said that providing information to the organisers about products on display at the fair in advance helped foreign partners reduce fact-finding time and advance to signing contracts.
The large number of South African customers, who visited Vietnamese booths, saw that Vietnamese products could deeply penetrate South African market and other countries in the region.
Le Huy Hoang, Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa, expressed his delight at the attention Vietnamese goods welcomed at the fair, especially from South African partners.
In the coming time, the Vietnam Embassy in South Africa will boost economic diplomacy activities through the implementation of comprehensive measures.
The Embassy will continue to accompany with Vietnamese enterprises, supporting information on the market and helping to connect with South African partners.
The Ambassador asked enterprises to continue improving the quality and diversification of their products, conduct research into South African consumer demands and tastes and establish linkages.
