Vietnamese OCOP products to be showcased at European handicraft fair in Italy

Vietnam continues to promote quality products classified under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program to more international consumers through a large-scale event.

Vietnam's five-star OCOP products will be exhibited at Europe's largest handicraft fair "Artigiano in Fiera" in Milan, Italy in December to help Vietnamese products reach new international customers.

The annual international fair will last for nine days and is expected to attract millions of visitors, Antonio Intiglietta, President and CEO of Gestione Fiere, the organizer of the event, said at a meeting held this week in the southern city of Cantho and chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam.

He said the fair aims to introduce international consumers to handicrafts and agricultural products and especially to promote the country's image and brand through the fair. “The fair will draw the attendance of countries such as India, China and Vietnam. This is a good opportunity to introduce Vietnam's OCOP program and reach out to new customers, promoting to tens of millions of customers and those looking for suppliers on social networking platforms."

Vietnamese products participating in the fair will be promoted both at the fair and online throughout the year. In particular, visitors to the fair will be able to learn more about Vietnam's agritourism.

Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that such an event is necessary to promote the image and brand of Vietnam's goods to international friends as all products displayed at the fair are five-star OCOP meeting the Vietnamese standards.

Vietnam's OCOP products were exhibited at the Florence International Crafts Fair (MIDA) 2023, held from April 25 to May 1, which attracted a large number of international visitors with 840 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and territories.

The Vietnam Pavilion, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, showcased many high-quality embroidered and woven silk products from Nam Cao Tussore Co-operative, decorative sailboat models from Thien Huong Trading-Manufacturing Co, Ltd, wood products and horn art from Minh Giang CRAFT Vietnam, and horn items from Tu Duy Handicraft Co, Ltd.
