Vietnam's Population Database 2018 to be set up

In 2018, the Ministry of Public Security will collect and update population data into the National Population Database.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh - Head of the Steering Committee for the simplification project on administrative procedures, citizenship documents and database relating to people management in the period of 2013-2020 (Scheme 896) - has recently signed a decision to issue a plan to implement this project in 2018.

Accordingly, in 2018, relevant ministries and agencies will develop a National Population Database, review and propose plans for simplification of administrative procedures that are related to population management of ministries and other activities.

Regarding the development of National Population Database, in 2018, the Ministry of Public Security and the Public Security Offices of the provinces and cities directly under the Central Government will organize training courses for reporters, organize training courses, professional training on gathering information on population in the locality. The Ministry of Public Security will collect and update population data into the National Population Database. The Public Security Ministry, the Ministry of Justice will assume the prime responsibility for extending the number of personal identifiers.

In the first quarter of 2018, the Ministry of Finance issued a circular stipulating the rates, the regime of collection, management and use of information in the National Population Database. In the second quarter of the year 2018, ministries, sectors and localities proposed the need to link information between other national databases and specialized databases with the National Population Database. 

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will assume the prime responsibility for completing the simplification of administrative procedures in the second quarter of 2018.

Ministries and branches will promulgate plans on implementation of the Government's Resolution on simplification of administrative procedures under the management functions of ministries and branches.
