Vingroup to set world’ record of opening 117 convenience store in one day
The plan would increase the total number of VinMart+ stores in Vietnam to 1,700, cementing its place as the top retailer in the country.
Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest privately-run conglomerate, could set a new record in Vietnam’s and the world’s retail sector by opening a total of 117 VinMart+ convenience stores nationwide on December 31, 2018, the group has said in a statement.
The plan would increase the total number of VinMart+ stores in Vietnam to 1,700, cementing its place among the country’s leading retailers.
Each store is designed to cover an area of 80 – 200 square meters, and located in high demographic density neighborhood of major cities, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phuong, among others, in turn meeting customers demand in the peak shopping season at the end of this year.
In December, VinCommerce, Vingroup’s subsidiary and the operator of VinSmart+ chain store, has opened 238 convenience stores and five supermarkets, resulting in a total retail space of 400,000 square meters.
The group previously completed the acquisition of the supermarket chain Fivimart from Nhat Nam Trade Company. Following the deal, the Fivimart chain along with its 23 supermarkets was renamed VinMart.
VinCommerce targets to have 200 VinMart supermarkets and 4,000 VinMart+ convenience stores by 2020.
