VN, Algeria have potential for cooperation

Viet Nam and Algeria share numerous similarities and have potential and advantages to promote bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement during a meeting in Ha Noi on January 9 with Algerian Minister of Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Amara Benyounes, who is also on a working visit to Viet Nam.

PM Dung suggested that the two sides should enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, agree on a specific cooperation program and further investment cooperation to increase two-way trade turnover in the future from the current volume of $130 million, as well as promote cooperation in energy and labor.

He praised outcomes of the tenth session of the Viet Nam-Algeria Inter-governmental Committee and asked the committee to enhance multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

Emphasizing the sound traditional friendship between the two countries, PM Dung said Viet Nam wants to boost and deepen all-round cooperation with the North African country for both sides’ interests and development and expressed his hope that the two countries will coordinate and support each other in regional and international forums.

Minister Benyounes affirmed Algeria’s insistent policy in promoting all-round cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in economics to make the field grow in line with the sound bilateral political and diplomatic relations.

He stressed that Algeria always creates favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to seek investment opportunities and promote investment in his country, as well as boost bilateral trade.

The Algerian Minister expressed his hope that Viet Nam will share experience in socio-economic development with Algeria and both sides will boost people-to-people exchanges to improve mutual understanding.
