Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Sejong on January 13 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation and food safety and security.
The signatories to the MoU were Viet Nam’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and his RoK counterpart Lee Dong-phil.
The MoU was introduced in the wake of an agreement signed between the leaders of both nations in September 2013.
In its press release, the RoK’s Ministry of Agric
lture said the two sides consented to actively increasing bilateral exchanges and collaboration in the field, including the establishment of a joint committee on agricultural cooperation, in a bid to better food security.
The agreement manifests the strategic partnership between the two nations and is expected to further promote investment in agriculture in each country.
During the meeting with the Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister Lee Dong-phil said the RoK will share experience and provide agricultural technolog for Viet Nam.
The two ministers discussed other issues, including the RoK’s export of pork to Viet Nam.
