Of the latest cases, there are two Hanoian residents, a 58-year-old woman and an 8-year-old girl in Me Linh district. Both of them are infected from the previously confirmed patient numbered 2142, and have been isolated and under treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh district.

The cases from Hai Duong are linked to positive cases confirmed earlier in the province’s clusters and have been quarantined since the outbreak was detected.

Ten out of 12 district-level localities in the northern province have reported infection cases, with the tally reaching 440 as of February 14.

Of the total infections, most of the cases have been detected in Chi Linh city and Kinh Mon township, with 234 and 58, respectively, where the pandemic situation is basically put under control, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Luong Van Cau told the online meeting on Covid-19 prevention and control on February 14.

Many areas of the province had been put under lockdown to prevent and control the pandemic.

As the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 is spreading faster, the provincial authorities are requested to proactively take prevention measures, according to Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long. The authorities need to increase the testing capacity and speed up the contact tracing process to prevent infections from increasing further.

As of February 14, Vietnam has reported 2,228 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,534 have recovered and exited hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.
