Nguyen Huong Ly, a third-year student at the Hanoi University, is the youngest voter in a Hanoi's suburban village.
At the general election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term on May 23, many young Vietnamese have voted for the first time. Nguyen Huong Ly, from Hanoi’s Soc Son district, is one of them.
Ly, 21 years old, is currently a third-year student at the Hanoi University. She is the youngest voter in Mai Noi village, Mai Dinh commune, Soc Son district. |
When arriving at the polling station, a health worker takes her temperature and Ly must comply with all Covid-19 protocols during the voting process to keep the voting premise safe. |
While waiting to vote, Ly reads about the biographical profiles of the candidates for the People's Councils in her hometown again, though brochures containing information about the candidates were sent to her home a month before the day of the general election. |
All voters in Mai Noi village have to practice social distancing while waiting for their turn to cast the ballot. Ly was given three ballots to elect the members of the National Assembly, the People's Council at the district level, and the People's Council at the commune level. |
Pens and rulers are available so that voters can cross out the candidates’ names they do not select. |
The ballot box has been checked and sealed publicly and transparently before the ballots are cast. |
After voting, Ly’s voter card is stamped by the Election Committee. |
