Ambassador proposes Bangkok-Hanoi twinning ties

Hanoi and Bangkok are both members of the ASEAN initiative on smart cities, thus Hanoi is expected to creating a foundation for both sides to develop.

Newly-appointed Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Tanee Sangrat has proposed Bangkok and Hanoi form a sisterhood for deeper and more effective cooperation between the two cities.

The ambassador made the proposal at a meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on January 21, where they exchanged views on bilateral relations, as well as the direction for future cooperation with Hanoi.

The ambassador thanked the Hanoi People's Committee for supporting his embassy in organizing recent cultural exchange events such as Thai Festival and Amazing Thailand.

The ambassador expressed his hope that Hanoi’s authority will continue supporting the Thai Cultural Festival, scheduled to be held in 2019. 

The festival will add three contents towards developing bilateral economic relations, including real estate investment, medical tourism and vocational training, said the ambassador.

For his part, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his expectation that Ambassador Tanee will act as a bridge between Vietnam and Thailand as well as the two countries’ capitals for enhanced cooperative relations.

Chung said Hanoi is always willing to support the organization of Thai events in the capital city, affirming that Hanoi will further support investment promotion activities and fairs to introduce Thai products to Hanoi’s residents.
