Hanoi Times — Vietnam and China have launched an international land cable transmission system, according to a recent news report.

The system, jointly built by the China Netcom Group and Vietnam’s Telecom International (VTI), has created a new international information superhighway between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to the People’s Daily of China.

The new system will help China increase its communication capacity with Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, and promote co-operation within the China – ASEAN Free Trade Area.

The international fiber optic cable runs from China’s Guangxi Province to two ports in Vietnam, and links China with other ASEAN countries via Vietnam.
