The World Bank’s Country Director for Vietnam Ousmane Dione has called for immediate actions against climate change in the country, saying that each Vietnamese should be a climate warrior.

He said that we owe the nature and it’s not time for saying sorry, it’s time for actions.
“Saving energy contributes to saving the earth and also saving the future of our children,” Ousmane Dione said at the event which was broadcast live.
With the theme “Save Energy, Save Earth”, the event conveyed specific messages focusing on methods towards energy efficiency.

The campaign was launched in all 63 cities and provinces nationwide with strong messages of environmental protection.
Ambassadors of the campaign included those representing international organizations, Vietnam’s entrepreneurs and intellectuals like Germany-trained Dr. Dang Hoang Giang from the Centre for Community Support and Development Studies (CECODES), representatives from FPT Software and Son Ha Group, and H’Hen Nie, top five Miss Universe 2018.
Sponsors for the event include Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), which is the main sponsor for 11 consecutive years, Hanoi Beer Alcohol and Beverage Joint Stock Corporation (Habeco), and Daikin Air Conditioning Vietnam.
This year's campaign also consists of many seminars which focus on green energy, energy saving, ozone layer protection.
Through the campaign, the message “New deal for nature” would be together made globally for a safe and green life.
Vietnam joined Earth Hour in 2009. The country save roughly 485,000 kWh worth VND840 million (US$36,000) during the campaign in 2018.
