PM received Sri Lankan Ambassador

On the afternoon of February 26, PM Nguyen Tan Dung received Sri Lankan Ambassador Ivan Amarasinghe who came to bid farewell before ending his working term in Viet Nam.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung appreciated the positive contribution of Ambassador Ivan Amarasinghe in promoting cooperation between the two countries; while confirming the consistent policy of Vietnam that is always desirable and will try our best to continue traditional friendly relations between the two countries more in-depth, practical and effective and bring tangible benefits to the overall development of the two sides.

The PM affirmed Viet Nam’s unswerving policy of cooperating with Sri Lanka to deepen bilateral relations for mutual benefit. The Government leader said each country needs to boost trade exchange to increase two-way trade turnover and expand cooperation in tourism, agriculture, and fishery. Both sides should also continue their effective coordination at regional and international forums, especially the United Nations, the PM said.

For his part, the Sri Lankan diplomat expressed his delight at the growing ties between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka in recent years. He held that with strong cooperation and joint efforts coupled with 24 signed agreements in various fields, partnership between the two countries will flourish. He proposed that both sides promote cooperation in agriculture, seafood and industrialplant product processing. The diplomat also pledged to use his best efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations no matter his future position.
