Thang Long Entrepreneur Gala 2020 honors 200 Hanoi enterprises

Hanoisme has been awarded the second-class labor order by the State President.

The Thang Long Entrepreneur Gala 2020 has honored 200 enterprises representing more than 290,000 members of Hanoi’s business community for their outstanding socio-economic contributions to the capital.

Speaking at the ceremony on October 24, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said that the economy has faced many difficulties this year due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the city government is always pay attention to improving the business environment and has drastically taken synchronous solutions to promptly remove difficulties for enterprises.

In such difficult circumstances, Hanoi still achieved a growth rate of 3.27% in the first nine months of 2020, more than 1.5 times the national average. In particular, the city has delayed collecting more than VND17.5 trillion (US$753.6 million) in corporate income taxes.

Mayor Ngoc Anh assessed that, as the core of the business community, members of the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (Hanoisme) has constantly developed, innovated and contributed more than 30% of the city’s tax revenue. They have also employed more than 50% of total workforce of the city and create more than 150,000 new jobs each year. Hanoi’s business community has been asserting its key role as a pioneer in the process of the development of the capital, he said.

Mr. Ngoc Anh believed that the business community of the capital will, based on its achievements, continue to seize opportunities, overcome challenges, develop sustainably, and deserve to be the driving force for the capital's development.

With the achievements of 25 years of formation and development, Hanoisme has been awarded the second-class labor order by the State President.

At the ceremony, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi Nguyen Lan Huong received nearly VND11.4 billion (US$490,931) from donors to support people in the central region affected by storms and floods. Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Bach Lien Huong was handed over nearly VND1.7 billion (US$73,209) from local donors to support disadvantaged children and families who are beneficiaries of social protection policies in Hanoi.
