Vietnam has been named among the top 10 best countries for solo travellers by US-based cable and satellite television channel Discovery.
Vietnam has been ranked 4th on a list of the 10 best countries in the world in terms of solo travellers. The list, compiled by US-based cable and satellite television channel Discovery. The Discovery recently recommended Vietnam as an amazing and cheap food destination.
Meanwhile, Bali island in Indonesia was one of the 10 best countries in the world for solo travellers. In addition, Scotland, Italy, France, Thailand and New Zealand were other countries named in the top 10.
Earlier, Vietnam also has been named among the top 10 destinationas for expats in a new ranking aimed at guiding the world’s rising number of modern nomads. The country was placed 9th on the InterNations’ 2018 Expat Insider survey, climbing three spots from last year.
More than four in five expats, or 81%, described the Vietnamese people as welcoming, and 73% said it was easy to settle down in the country, the survey found. Of the expats questioned, 56% said they had found it easy to make friends with locals, and 16% said they planned to stay forever. More than half of the expats said they planned to stay in the country for up to five years, which was well above the global average of 35%.
Vietnam received a total of more than 6.7 million foreign tourists in the first five months of 2018, an increase of 27.6% compared to the previous year, according to General Statistics Office (GSO).
In which, the highest growth of 62.1% in the number of tourists arriving in Vietnam from South Korea, followed by Finland, up 39.1%, and China, up 37%.
In 2018, Vietnam is expected to welcome 15.5 million foreign visitors, an increase of 20% from 2017; serve 80 million domestic tourists, up 8% against last year; gain VND620 trillion (US$27.28 billion) from the tourists' total revenue, up by 22% in comparison to 2016.
