The ancient town of Hoi An will lure tourists this full moon festival with unique cultural beauty and special art programs.
Special programs will be held during the traditional “Tet Nguyen tieu” (first full moon) festival in Hoi An ancient town to attract holidaymakers.
According to Hoi An’s authority, the Tet Nguyen Tieu, which falls every year on the 15th day of the first lunar month, is a spiritual event of great significance for Hoi An’s residents as it is an occasion for people to pray for peace, prosperity, and luck in the year ahead.
On this special occasion, Hoi An town plans to host a wide range of activities including ancient town night, poetry night, and ritual ceremonies at Ong and Cau pagodas as well as in the temples of Son Phong and Minh Huong Tuy Tien Duong.
In addition, other spiritual and community-based activities will be held at different places across the ancient town of Hoi An.
This year, to ensure the security of residents and visitors during the Tet Nguyen tieu, Hoi An city plans to expand the length of time at pedestrian streets from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on February 18 and from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm on February 20.
The city will also expand the time for folk games from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on February 20.
Earlier, Hoi An has been named among 10 of the best family holiday destinations overseas, according to a list released by Better Homes and Gardens, Australia’s number-one multi-platform brand.
“This is one of the best holiday destinations for families with older children looking to immerse themselves in culture, Hoi An offers diverse landscapes, delicious and cheap cuisines, beautiful beaches and bustling markets. Vietnam is the perfect budget destination in South East Asia that remains good value for families,” Better Homes and Gardens wrote.
Better Homes and Gardens advises travelers that Hoi An has no airport and no train station. The only way to get there is by road and you can hire a taxi from the neighboring city of Da Nang, which does have an airport with daily flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other large Vietnamese cities.
