The two countries have a lot of potential and opportunities for cooperation in the industrial sector, especially in electric vehicles, logistics and ancillary industries.
Vietnam and Indonesia will strengthen cooperation in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem and battery production.
Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita reached the agreement during a working meeting on 11 January on the sidelines of Indonesian President Joko Widodo's state visit to Vietnam from 11 to 13 January.

Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that the visit and working session of the Indonesian Minister of Industry would not only strengthen trade and cooperation in industrial sectors between the two countries and ministries, but also contribute to the success of the Indonesian President's visit to Vietnam.
Based on each country's existing potentials and strengths, the two ministers believe that Vietnam and Indonesia can cooperate in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem, such as electric vehicle battery production and sustainable mining for green development, as well as cooperation in carbon credit trading.
Dien said Vietnam is currently developing a sustainable industrial ecosystem and has policies to promote investment in high-tech projects, innovation, research and development, digital transformation, energy transition, green industry, projects that facilitate Vietnamese enterprises to participate in value chains, promote digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy and sustainable development, as well as strategic infrastructure development.
"These are also the areas where Indonesian enterprises have strengths and can strengthen cooperation and share experiences with Vietnamese enterprises,: he said.

Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita highly appreciates the potential and opportunities for cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as between businesses in the two countries.
The minister said Vietnam and Indonesia still have a lot of potential and opportunities for cooperation in the industrial sector, especially in electric vehicles, logistics and ancillary industries. He believed that businesses of the two countries would boost cooperation in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem and battery production.
During the working session, Vietnamese Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita proposed working with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade to jointly organize regional and international forums and conferences to share experiences and initiatives for industrial development.

He added that the two sides can continue to promote cooperation in other areas of mutual interest, such as the digital economy and human resource development.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien agreed with such initiatives, saying they would set a cooperation model to be expanded and shared with other regional countries for common prosperity and development. He also requested the ministry's units to exchange technical information with the Indonesian Ministry of Industry to launch such initiatives.
