Vietnam leads in business class ticket bookings

Vietnam had the highest number of business class ticket bookings, followed by Thailand and Japan, according to Gmarket's analysis of 2023 air ticket sales in the South Korean market.

Gmarket, a major e-commerce platform in South Korea, reported a 254% increase in business-class ticket bookings in 2023, 3.5 times higher than in 2022. The most popular destinations for luxury travel are relatively short-haul, with Vietnam taking the top spot at 18%, followed by Thailand at 16% and Japan at 12%.

Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2024 to be held in July

The 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, 2024 (DANAFF II), themed "Asia Bridges", will be held in the central coastal city of Danang from 2 to 6 July. Filmmakers and production companies can register and submit films from December 19, 2023.

The Vietnamese Film category includes Vietnamese feature films produced between February 2023 and April 2024. The deadline for registration is April 30. The Vietnamese Cinema Today category includes Vietnamese feature films (over 70 minutes in length) produced from January 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024.

An agricultural and the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) promotion fair in My Duc District currently showcases nearly 1,000 lines of farm produce, processed food, outstanding OCOP items and regional specialties to local residents and tourists.

The fair, which runs from 18 to 21 January, has attracted 100 enterprises, cooperatives and OCOP units from 26 provinces and cities across the country, including Cao Bang, Ninh Binh, Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang.

Over 2,200 scientific papers published in 2023

The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology reported on January 19 that a total of 2,211 scientific works were published in 2023, including 1,738 publications in international journals and 76 invention patents and utility models, including three international patents.

Hanoi to build infrastructure for 23 industrial clusters

Hanoi will start building technical infrastructure for the remaining 23 industrial clusters to complete a total of 43 industrial clusters, according to the 2018-2020 plan.

The city also aims to complete infrastructure construction and put into operation 15-20 industrial clusters, as well as establish and expand 10-15 industrial clusters. This decision aims to maximize the potential and advantages of industrial cluster development in the city, meet the needs of production development, and solve environmental pollution problems in the city's craft villages.

Vietnamese lose US$704.5 million due to computer viruses

Vietnamese suffered losses of VND17.3 trillion (US$704.5 million) due to computer viruses in 2023, mainly from account theft and data encryption malware, according to Bkav on January 18.

Although this damage is lower than the previous year's VND21 trillion (US$855.2 million), it still reflects a serious breach of cybersecurity. Specifically, there were 745,000 infected computers, a 40% increase compared to 2022.
