Circus artists brought home awards from the 32nd Golden Circus Festival Du Roma Capital, which took place in Rome, Italy from December 21 to January 14.
According to the head of the Vietnam Circus Federation (VCF) Vu Ngoan Hop, the “Lan vong nghe thuat – Chien binh dung cam” act, choreographed and performed by VCF artists involving interlinked performers rolling around in an upright wheel, won a silver medal. The “Quay khung nghe thuat” routine with a similar pretence was awarded “the Audience’s choice”.
This year’s festival brought together circus teams from 12 countries and territories across the world, presenting two gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal.
Vietnam’s troupe attended the 31st festival in 2013 for the first time and took home a gold medal.
The VCF plans to stage performances on the celebration of the Lunar New Year (Tet) on February 21 and on the 40th anniversary of Liberation Day between March 25 and May 25 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
It will also tour around 11 remote communes in northern Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang provinces and central Quang Tri province performing free-of-charge during the upcoming Tet holiday.
