The Hanoitimes -  The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has recently proposed a master plan on digitalizing analog television in an effort to provide digital TV programs to all Vietnamese households nationwide by 2020.

The roadmap for the implementation of the plan will be carried out flexibly in line with economic power and transmission conditions of each locality, said the MIC.

Four central cities will have to fulfill the plan by 2016 meanwhile the least developed localities will go last..

The plan has a value of VND 4,393 billion and comprises five key projects on: assisting residents to purchase digital receivers, improving people’s awareness of digital television, and building a national network of digital television.

Furthermore, the MIC will establish a transmission-broadcasting market of digital television with at least 3 to 5 enterprises operating in 2015 and the number of enterprises is expected to increase to 7 or 8 in the following years.
