10,000 firms to be trained in cross-border e-commerce

The initiative helps local businesses improve their competitiveness and participate in the chain of activities in the digital economy.

The Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency and Amazon Global Selling Vietnam will train human resources on cross-border e-commerce for 10,000 Vietnamese enterprises by 2026.

This is one of the activities agreed upon by the two sides in the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation signed on June 8. Joint implementation of the initiative “Cross-border e-commerce: An era of breakthrough” was announced on the same day.

The initiative is aimed at supporting human resource development for cross-border e-commerce in Vietnam in the 2022 - 2026 period, thereby improving capacity and opening up export opportunities for local businesses through e-commerce.

The iDEA under the Ministry of Industry and Trade will coordinate with Amazon Global Selling Vietnam to spread this initiative among the businesses, localities, and industry associations nationwide.

Participating in the program, Vietnamese businesses and their human resources will be trained in more than 20 courses with diverse content such as cross-border e-commerce, market research, product portfolio building, registration and brand protection, and sales process on Amazon.

According to the roadmap, in 2022, the program will be launched in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, and some other localities.

“Cross-Border E-Commerce: A Breakthrough Era” is an initiative intended for Vietnamese businesses, with a series of intensive training programs, and flexible approaches in line with the direction of the iDEA to help local businesses improve their competitiveness and participate in the chain of activities in the digital economy.

Gijae Seong, CEO of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, said with the newly signed memorandum of understanding, the two sides will share a vision and strategy to support small businesses in exporting through e-commerce.

“Through this initiative, local businesses are equipped with specialized knowledge on import and export and capture market information, thereby improving the quality of human resources. This is also a trade bridge between Vietnamese and foreign businesses in building brands for Vietnamese goods in the world market,” said Gijae Seong.

Sharing at the event, Director of the iDEA Dang Hoang Hai said that the goal of the agency is to promote the development of e-commerce and the digital economy in Vietnam. To achieve it, equipping businesses and the community with up-to-date information and knowledge on policies, and skills to deploy e-commerce and apply digital economy applications is important.

"We will work closely with Amazon Global Selling Vietnam and support domestic businesses to seize opportunities from the global market through cross-border e-commerce in the next five years,” Hai underlined.
