Vietnam heritage painting contest launched

The international painting contest "Brilliant Vietnam" seeks to celebrate Vietnam's rich traditions and values by spotlighting the country's intangible cultural heritage and involving both the expatriate Vietnamese community and the public from other countries.

The Art Space Association, in cooperation with A2Z Art Gallery in Paris and supported by renowned organizations worldwide, has recently launched the international painting competition entitled "Brilliant Vietnam."

The theme of the competition focuses on Vietnam's UNESCO-designated tangible and intangible cultural heritage, such as Ha Long Bay, Hue royal court music, and water puppetry, among others.

According to the organizers, the competition provides a unique opportunity for young painters to unleash their artistic talents while exploring Vietnam's rich historical and cultural heritage.

The competition is open to all, regardless of nationality or location, and is divided into two age categories: under 12 and 12-17.

Entries must be hand-drawn on A3 (297mm x 420mm) or A4 (210mm x 297mm) paper, excluding canvas or machine-drawn artwork.

The prize includes one first prize, three second, and six third prizes, for which the organizing committee will provide medals and commemorative plaques.

The contest deadline is April 20, and entries will be accepted through a receiving system on five continents, details are available at www.facebook.com/toucherarts.

Entrants are also encouraged to submit a video in English, French, or Vietnamese in which they share their understanding of the cultural heritage depicted in their artwork.

The results of the competition will be announced at the beginning of June 2025.

The jury will select the 100 most outstanding paintings to be exhibited in three cities in France. The top 20 works will be on display at the A2Z Art Gallery in Paris, France from July 6-13.

Through the Brilliant Vietnam competition and the associated exhibitions in France, the organizers aim to share the unique stories of Vietnam's cultural heritage with the world and highlight the importance of preserving and promoting these traditions.

Toucher Arts is a cultural initiative that unites Vietnamese and Vietnamese-origin youth from Vietnam and around the world. Its mission is to introduce Vietnamese culture, music, and art to the French and global communities through the lens of the younger generation. At the same time, the project works to raise funds in support of orphanages and disabled children in the country.
