16th meeting of Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia officially opens in Hanoi
This year`s conference will also provide an opportunity for travel companies from 10 official member cities to exchange and work together on the development of Asian tourism.
The 16th meeting of Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) officially opened in Hanoi on September 6 with the participation of CPTA member cities, including Tokyo (Japan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Jakarta (Indonesia), Taipei (Taiwan - China), Manila (the Philippines), and Hanoi.
Attending the opening ceremony were Chairman of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA), Director General of Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Yuji Fujita, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy and representatives of Asian Embassies in Vietnam.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy said that Hanoi attracts more than 24 million visitors a year on average, including five million international visitors. In order to achieve the above results, Hanoi is active in cooperating for advertisement and promotion of tourism development, including in CPTA activities.
This is the fourth time Hanoi holds the annual CPTA conference. This year's conference will discuss the implementation of joint cooperation campaigns, projects. The “Welcome to Asia” campaign, together with tourism promotion activities, helps enhance cooperation in the field of tourism human resources training. In addition, the conference this year will expand the discussion to solutions to develop the Asian tourism industry with the participation of member cities and representatives of tourism companies.
Chairman of CPTA Yuji Fujita said that this year's conference will focus on discussions and exchanges of ideas on specific measures and activities that 10 official member cities want to promote Asian tourism, attract more tourists from the world.
Yuji Fujita also emphasized that this year's conference will also provide an opportunity for travel companies from 10 official member cities to exchange and work together on the development of Asian tourism.
In recent years, Hanoi has really been an attractive destination for international visitors, owning many advantages of traditional culture and history. It can be seen that Hanoi has achieved many advances in infrastructure as well as tourism products, according to Head of Destination and Marketing Division under the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office, Hari Wibowo.
Accordingly, the meeting is set to review cooperative activities implemented during the past years and design plans to carry out new projects. Participant will define responsibilities of state tourism management agencies and municipal governments, as well as tourism agencies and businesses in developing tourism in CPTA official member cities.
