Hanoi is celebrating the recognition of two of its notable destinations, Hong Van Commune and Duong Lam Ancient Village, at the ASEAN Tourism Awards. These prestigious awards, presented annually, honor destinations and businesses that demonstrate outstanding contributions to sustainable tourism in Southeast Asia.

Hong Van Commune in Hanoi's Thuong Tin District won the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award (CBT SEAN), while the Duong Lam Ancient Village Homestay cluster received the prestigious Homestay - ASEAN Award.
This year, Vietnam won 17 ASEAN Tourism Awards in four categories, including the ASEAN Spa Service Awards, the ASEAN Community Tourism Award - CBT ASEAN, the ASEAN Homestay Award, and the ASEAN Public Toilet Award at the Southeast Asia Tourism Forum (ATF 2025).

Hong Van is a suburban commune in Hanoi that sees tens of thousands of visitors every year. Rich in historical and cultural heritage, it boasts a rich folklore and is home to one of Hanoi's famous ornamental plant villages. Designated as a tourist destination by the city in 2018, Hong Van continues to attract visitors with its unique cultural offerings.
Meanwhile, Duong Lam Ancient Village, a picturesque example of a traditional Vietnamese village, is famous for its well-preserved architectural features, including banyan trees, water wharves, communal houses, pagodas, shrines, and rice fields. Known as the birthplace of Kings Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung, the village is also referred to as the “laterite village” due to its buildings made from laterite stone.
Many of Duong Lam's nearly 1,000 ancient houses, dating back to the 17th century, are built with traditional materials such as bamboo, wood, clay, and terracotta. In 2006, Duong Lam was designated a national historical and cultural relic, and in 2019 it was granted recognition as a city-level tourist destination. The city of Son Tay is working to make the village a Special National Relic.
