Hanoi tourism posts significant growth in February
Hanoi has seen encouraging growth in tourism, with an estimated 2.38 million visitors in February 2025, an increase of 9.6% year-on-year.
Nearly 500,000 foreign tourists visited Hanoi in February, an increase of 29.6% over last year, the Hanoi Department of Tourism revealed in its recently released report on tourism activity for the month.

Meanwhile, domestic tourism saw a modest increase with 1.89 million visitors, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.3%. Total tourism revenue in February is estimated at VND9.22 trillion ($360 million), up 14.5% from the same period last year.
In the first two months of 2025, Hanoi welcomed a total of 4.59 million visitors, up 7.4% year-on-year. This figure includes 1.05 million international visitors (up 13.0%) and 3.54 million domestic tourists (up 5.8%). Total tourism revenue for the period reached VND18.25 trillion ($714 million), marking a 9% growth over the same period in 2024.
Hanoi's hotels reached an occupancy rate of 62.34% this month, up 1.2% from the same period last year. Currently, the city boasts 97 service facilities that have been recognized for meeting tourism standards and serving the needs of both tourists and locals. These include 45 food and beverage outlets, 43 shopping venues, seven entertainment venues, and two healthcare service providers.
Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, provided some information on plans for March 2025, including the launch of the "Get on Hanoi 2025" program and the announcement of the Hai Ba Trung Temple-Pagoda-Communal House as a special national relic on March 4. The department is also focusing on developing tourism products, organizing surveys and conferences to network tourist destinations in different districts, cities and towns with local travel agencies.

Moreover, new tourism products will be introduced, such as heritage-related experiential tourism at the Ha Mo tourist site in Dan Phuong District; the "Nam Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road" route in Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin and Phu Xuyen districts; community-based tourism experiences highlighting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in An Phu Commune, My Duc District; rural agricultural tourism in Tich Giang Commune, Phuc Tho District, and others.
Hanoi has set a target to welcome 35-39 million tourists by 2025, including 8-9 million foreigners, earning about VND151 trillion ($6.53 billion), according to the city's recently launched tourism development strategy for 2030.
The capital hopes to welcome 48-49 million visitors by 2030, including 13-14 million foreigners.
Hanoi will strive to establish tourism as its main economic sector, which will act as a catalyst for other areas. It will utilize the latest technology and make qualified human resources a game changer for tourism growth.
Local authorities will increase investment and resources in tourism infrastructure to achieve the goals, in a coordinated manner.
