The awards will become an annual event to honour outstanding Vietnamese writings on science and technology published in the mass media, aiming to encourage journalists and press agencies to promote science and technology, contribute to realizing research results, and raise public awareness of the role and impact of science and technology in socio-economic development.
The award honours young talents in information technology (IT), the medicine-pharmaceutical technology, bio-technology, and environmental technology.
The 2012 awards will be given to works published in print and electronic newspapers and broadcast on radio and television.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan presented Golden Globe awards to 10 outstanding young people in science and technology. Deputy PM Nhan said he hopes the awardees will make greater efforts to contribute to boosting scientific and technological research and application and help the country catch up with the world in this field.
The Deputy PM also commended the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology on organising the Golden Globe awards.
The organisers expect to announce the winners of the 2012 awards in mid-January 2013.
