This is one of the important events marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy (March 23, 1973 - March 23, 2018).
Taking place in Dien Hong Flower Garden, Vietnam Fashion Week 2018 was attended by18 designers. This theme is also selected to be the overall theme by the Italian Embassy to connect the chain of events held to commemorate diplomatic relations between the two countries, starting with a concert that took place in the evening of March 16 in Hanoi.
“The autumn and winter 2018 collections presented this time in Hanoi are shown in silk - a valuable material symbolizing sustainability and creative exchanges between Vietnam and Italia”, said Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, Cecilia Piccioni.
The Ambassador also noted that besides the fashion show, another remarkable event in the 2018 Vietnam - Italy Fashion Week is the exhibition "Silk Reeling and Weaving Process" with silkworm flat basket, silk yarn, silk spinning machines, shuttle weaving machines, etc.
Weaving materials and processes that produce traditional silk cloth are also introduced at the exhibition by artisans, silk makers in Hanoi and Bao Loc such as Thai Nam Silk-Nha Xa, Vietsilk, Silky Vietnam, Baoloc Silk, Viet Silk, Nhat Minh Silk, Ha Bao Silk-Bao Loc, according to Piccioni.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hanoi’s Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung highly appreciated the idea of introducing and linking the two countries’ culture through fashion by Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni, an Italian woman who always gives love to Vietnamese ao dai (Vietnamese traditional custome) and had initiative to inspire Vietnam - Italy Fashion Week by inviting designer Gaudiomonte who is famous for Italian silk products to attend the event.
“Italy, with a long history and a splendid and ancient culture, has left humanity many symbols in culture, architecture, painting, sculpture, cuisine, and especially fashion”, added Chung.
Italian fashion brand names are famous both in the world and in Vietnam. At the Vietnam-Italy Fashion Week, the Vietnamese people in general and the Hanoi citizens in particular will know more about Italian fashion industry in terms of its scale as well as its designing names who are talented and creative with elegant style, expressive creativity and breakthrough.
Chung believes that the Vietnamese-Italian Fashion Week not only creates a spillover effect for Vietnamese young designers on a potential and developing fashion industry, but also highlights for the two countries Vietnam - Italy to have important economic cooperation in the coming time.
Accordingly, the Mayor believes that, coming to Vietnam-Italy Fashion Week, Vietnamese, Italians as well as international visitors in Hanoi will have the most authentic experience in culture, fashion, as well as distintive features of Italy and Vietnam.
At the same time, Chung affirmed that the Vietnamese people and the Hanoi people have always loved the country Italia and always considered the Italian people as well as the ambassador their dear friends.
