VITM Hanoi to highlight AI's role in promoting tourism

THE HANOI TIMES — Typical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and robots in travel, hotels, and tourism services will be introduced for the first time at the Vietnam International Travel Mart Hanoi 2025 (VITM Hanoi 2025).

The event will be held from April 10 to 13 at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center, 91 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi, promising to showcase the latest technological innovations shaping the future of the travel industry.

Themed “Developing green destinations, elevating Vietnam tourism,” there will be a booth showcasing some of the successes of the digital transformation program and typical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in the travel, hotel, and tourism services sector.

Commenting on the theme, Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of VITM Hanoi 2025, said: "We need to build green destinations to raise the profile of Vietnamese tourism. Let this greenness permeate the thinking of tourism workers and the community."

"The world after the pandemic has changed completely. That tourists are more interested in quality, green tourism, and environmental protection poses an arduous challenge of green transformation in Vietnam's tourism," he told The Hanoi Times.

Last year's VITM Hanoi 2024 with the theme "Vietnam tourism transforms green for sustainable development" focused on responsible tourism combined with environmental protection for sustainable development.

This year's edition will introduce typical green destinations of Vietnam, attractive and diverse green tourism products.

According to Binh, VITM Hanoi 2025 will gather 450 booths from 60 domestic and foreign tourism promotion agencies, 8 airlines, 16 countries and territories, and more than 600 tour operators.

In addition, attendees can look forward to a variety of engaging experiences, including promotional programs for tours, airline tickets, hotel stays, local OCOP products, and enticing destinations such as Quang Nam, Bac Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, and more, all showcasing their latest tourism initiatives.

The event will also feature numerous business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) meetings. Both Vietnamese and international tourism agencies will present a range of tourism products, destinations, incentive packages, and cutting-edge technologies, highlighting emerging trends in the industry.

One of the highlights of the event is the Forum “Developing green destinations, elevating Vietnam tourism”, to be held on the morning of April 11.

It is expected that 200-300 delegates will be in attendance, including government regulators, national and international tourism experts, tourism business leaders, as well as destination management organizations and the media.

Delegates will discuss the development of green destinations, green tourism business models, and digital transformation for Vietnam's sustainable tourism.

The annual activity of the Vietnam Tourism Association, the "Outstanding Enterprises and Individuals in Vietnam's Tourism Industry in 2025" ceremony, is scheduled for the afternoon of April 10 to honor outstanding enterprises and individuals in the tourism industry.

VITM will feature art performances contributed by domestic and international art troupes, including the tuna performance of Phu Yen, the cultural art troupe of Danang, and art troupes from Malaysia, Taiwan (China), and others.

"The VITM Hanoi 2025 has special significance because it is in line with Vietnam's strategy for travel sector in building and positioning its brand," said Binh.
