UNESCO Travel Hanoi Club dedicated to promoting local tourism

The club has made significant contributions to the development of the city's tourism industry over the past 15 years, promoting the image of Hanoi and Vietnam tourism.

The Hanoi Times —
The Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club has played an important role in the growth of the tourism industry in the capital city and the country, contributing to the improvement of the quality of tourism services and, most importantly, the promotion and exposure of Vietnam and its people to the world.

That's what Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, remarked at the 15th anniversary ceremony of the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club on March 15.

According to Khanh, the club's proud achievements have contributed to the overall development of Hanoi's tourism industry and helped raise the value of Vietnam's tourism brand on the world tourism map.

In addition to its tourism-related activities, the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club also made significant contributions to social and charitable causes, especially helping those affected by floods, natural disasters, epidemics and storms. This has strengthened the nation's sense of social responsibility.

Over the past 15 years, UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club has received 17 certificates of merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Tourism Authority, People's Committees and Tourism Departments of provinces and cities, the UNESCO Hanoi City Association, and the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Agency.

Promoting the role of pioneers

"The Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club is one of the leading birds of UNESCO Association of Hanoi," said Truong Minh Tien, Chairman of UNESCO Association of Hanoi. The club with the most members has influenced the growth of the travel and tourism sector.

In terms of foreign affairs, Nguyen Quy Phuong, Head of Tourism Promotion at the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, said that the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club has focused on a number of source markets, especially 15 countries whose citizens are exempt from visa requirements. He praised the UNESCO Travel Club of Hanoi for its cultural exchange and friendship which are important to attract international visitors amid global economic difficulties.

Affirming its efforts to make the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club a common home of the tourism business community, Truong Quoc Hung, Chairman of the club, said that the organization will actively implement activities in response to the Tourism Stimulus Program in 2025 with the theme “Vietnam - Travel to Love” launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club, the UNESCO Travel Fest 2025 (UTF) was held at the weekend to help tourism enterprises nationwide expand cooperation to boost Vietnam's tourism industry.

The annual UNESCO Travel Fest has garnered significant interest from Vietnam's tourism industry. This year's event welcomed around 800 participants, including dozens of leading companies in travel services, aviation, transportation, and domestic and international hospitality.

Commenting on the program, Doan Ngoc Tung, Vice President of UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, said: "In the tourism sector, business-to-business (B2B) activities play a crucial role in fostering cooperation and market expansion. Business Matching - Table Top Networking at UTF 2025 provides a platform for sponsors and businesses to network, promote their brands, and seek long-term development opportunities."

"We are actively negotiating strategic partnerships with several travel agencies, hotel investment groups, tourism complexes, and major airlines to implement practical tourism initiatives and contribute to the stable and sustainable growth of Vietnam's tourism industry," Tung said.

To mark the occasion, the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, in cooperation with the Hanoi Department of Tourism, organized a fam trip to Duong Lam Ancient Village, Son Tay Town, Hanoi.

In addition to sightseeing and immersive experiences, such as visiting Va Temple and Mia Pagoda, exploring centuries-old houses and unique traditional alleys, and discovering local cuisine, the delegation will also engage in environmental protection initiatives. A key activity will be the installation of awareness boards promoting the message "Say No to Plastic Waste" in tourism activities.

Established in 2009, the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, with 800 members from Hanoi and neighboring provinces, has had a positive impact on the growth of tourism in the capital and throughout the country.

It has planned numerous marketing campaigns and cooperation initiatives involving residents, domestic destinations, and foreign travel agencies.
