2,500 runners to compete in Hanoi International Heritage Marathon

The event aims to celebrate the 64th anniversary of Hanoi`s Liberation Day and 30 years established anniversary of Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspapers.

Over 2,500 professional and semi professional runners from nearly 50 countries and territories are expected to participate in the 2018 Hanoi International Heritage Marathon, due to take place on October 21, representatives of Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspaper said at a press conference on October 16.

The 2018 Hanoi International Heritage Marathon is organized by Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspaper in coordination with Duc Huong Anh Limited Company. The event aims to celebrate the 64th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day and 30th establishment anniversary of Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspaper.
According to the organizing board, all runners will race distances ranging from 5 to 42km around Hoan Kiem Lake, Phan Dinh Phung road, West Lake, Long Bien Bridge, etc.
Speaking at a press conference, Editor-in–Chief of Dai Bieu Nhan Dan Newspaper Do Chi Nghia said that the event is the first marathon run through the Old Quarter so that the athletes have new and interesting experience when it comes to historical and cultural values, the lives of Hanoians as well as modern presence through each running step.
This is the first marathon to connect three main historical attractions of Hanoi, which are Hoan Kiem Lake, Hong Ha street and West Lake. Therefore, to express the main idea of ​​“Hanoi - Heritage Marathon”, three famous places are Hoan Kiem Lake, Long Bien Bridge, West Lake will be connected via the Old Quarter, creating a unique route through the heritage of Hanoi, he added.
