Quang Ninh province leaders on April 25 have had a meeting with potential investors for the implementation of three super projects with value ranging from US$10 - 15 billion in Van Don special economic zone.
Those investors included Vision Transportation Group (VTG), Hai Dang Construction & Investment, and Sunny World Investment & Development, according to the province portal.
3 projects mentioned in the meeting are the Van Don - Mong Cai highway project, Hon Net - Con Ong seaport project, and Cai Bau urban complex project.
Specifically, for the urban complex project in the northern of Cai Bau island, the design is originally inspired by Monte Carlo in Europe. The urban complex will consist of residential areas with shopping and services area, which are connected to Van Don Airport, railway station and the Van Don Heritage road in the southern of the island, covering an area of 5,000 hectares.
The project will expand its center to the north connecting with railway station and other facilities along with the coast line, a sea port in the south and industrial complex.
With regard to the Hon Net - Con Ong seaport project, it is estimated to have investment capital of US$1.2 billion in an area of 500 hectares. Consequently, the seaport system will be constructed in phases, in which the first phase is to construct a multi-functional port with length at 350-400m and capable for vessels up to 150,000 DWT and barges to access, as well as a station storing all kinds of containers and goods.
In the design, a total of 12 berths will be constructed with capacity of 800,000 TEU per berth. After completing, there will be around 10,000 employees working at the seaport system.
The Van Don - Mong Cai highway project is expected to have length at 100km. The project will connect Mong Cai border gate to Van Don special economic zone with central station at urban complex in the northern of Cai Bau island, connecting with the national railway network for passengers and goods transportation.
Stressing the significances of these projects, investors requested Quang Ninh to support in legal procedures and site clearance process.
In return, Quang Ninh Party Secretary Nguyen Van Doc considered these projects to be in line with the province's long term strategy, which will be updated in Quang Ninh's master plan.
Doc requested investors to ensure the compatibility of these projects to the province's master plan. The urban complex project in Cai Bau should be a transportation hub in the future of Van Don. Meanwhile, the design for Hon Net - Con Ong seaport should be finalized to be a deep seaport, capable of receiving large vessels.
Finally, the Mong Cai - Van Don highway project should ensure the smooth transportation and connect Quang Ninh to other cities in China.
