479 artists honoured the title of People’s Artist and Meritorious Artist
On behalf of the Party and the State, President Truong Tan Sang awarded the titles of People’s Artist and Meritorious Artist to 479 artists for their outstanding contributions in the field of art performances in Hanoi on January 10.
The ceremony which was held at Hanoi Opera House was attended by State President Truong Tan Sang; Member of the Politburo and Ddirector of Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
Addressing the event, President Truong Tan Sang said that in the past few years, the outstanding artists have inherited national cultural traditions and deeply attached to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the People, contributing greatly to building and developing the cultural sector.
The Party and State has recognised and highly appreciated the creative labour of all artists generations, who have contributed to strengthen, revive and make glorious revolutionary art, including significant contributions of People’s Artists and Meritorious Artists, President Sang added.
The State leader expressed his wish that in the context of extensive international integration and cultural exchange, Vietnamese artists in general will continue improving their knowledge and capacity to create high value works and help promote Vietnam’s cultural values to the world.
He hoped that these awarded artists will continue to promote their key roles in artistic activities, support and help young artists to be excellent successor.
The President also suggested the ministries, branches and localities, especially the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to create the most favourable conditions for the artists to develop their talents having the greater contribution to the national cultural development.
The People’s Artist title was presented to 102 artists and the Meritorious Artist title was also awarded to 377 artists.
The youngest artists (30 years old) who was awarded this year's title belong to dancers Ta Thuy Chi, Han Giang and Linh Nga. Besides, some artists families with father, mother and daughter received the title.
