50 archival materials on history of Vietnam - Japan cooperation launched

The event is among activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic ties (September 21, 1973 - 2018).

The State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam held a ceremony to launch a website for the online exhibition themed “History of Vietnam – Japan cooperation through archival records” on September 20, which presents the historical exchanges of Vietnam and Japan.

Accordingly, the exhibition introduces nearly 50 archival materials currently preserved at the archival agencies, Museum of Vietnam and Japan, including many kinds of documents and images which are being published for the first time.
The exhibition is part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic ties (September 21, 1973 - 2018).
The exhibition includes 4 chapters: Early relation, Exchanges in the early modern era, Exchanges in the Modern era and Vietnam - Japan: Old partners, new partnership.
The first online exhibition, co-organized by the State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam and the National Archives of Japan, aims to bring an insight into the comprehensive and sustainable Vietnam - Japan relationship, which has stood the test of time, according to Director of the State Records Management and Archives Department Dang Thanh Tung.
The exhibition serves to demonstrate the historical development in the relationship between the two countries, associated with the achievements of cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, art from the agreement to set up diplomatic relations to now.
On his side, Director of the National Archives of Japan Takeo Katoh said he hoped the exhibition will deepen the bilateral understanding and friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
