5th International Choir Competition 2017 to take place in Hoi An

The 2017 International Choir Competition will take place from June 7-11 in the ancient city of Hoi An, the central province of Quang Nam, bringing together 1,000 choir performers.

The participants come from 32 choirs from 10 countries and territories around the world. The artists will compete in different categories, not only ensuring strict requirements of choral performance, but also featuring the unique identities of their countries.
In addition to official competitions, the choirs will give performances in the programme themed ‘International Rhymes’, on June 8-9 at Hoi An ancient town. This year’s international choir competition is expected to offer a space for audiences to enjoy classical music as well as to bring this form of music closer to people.
The event also contributes to promoting the values of the culture, arts and heritage as well as tourism potential of the ancient city in Quang Nam province to both domestic and foreign visitors.
As the host, Hoi An offers facilities such as modern sound and lighting equipment in accordance with international standards to serve the competition.
Since the outstanding success of the first event in 2011 INTERKULTUR organizes biannually the International Choir Competition Vietnam in the city of Hội An. From that time on the event has been increasing and has now become an inherent part of international choir tours.
The setting of the competition is located directly at Hội An’s coast and provides a stunning panorama for the performances. n cooperation with the Vietnamese central government, the provincial government of Quang Nam and the city council of Hoi An offers choirs from all parts of the world the possibility to discover the beauty of this country and to combine this exciting journey with a participation in an international choir competition.
